Quentin Tarantino และ Marvel Comics!
คนส่วนใหญ่คงจะรู้จัก Quentin Tarantino ดีในฐานะผู้กำกับ/นักเขียนบท หนังที่มีสไตล์เท่ห์ บทพูดที่มีสเน่ห์ และการ reference ถึงหนังเก่าๆที่เขาชื่นชอบ ผลงานดังๆของเขาอย่าง Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill ก็ได้ขึ้นหิ้งเป็นหนังคลาสสิคไปแล้ว
แต่หลายๆคนอาจจะไม่รู้ว่า Quentin นั้นนอกจากเป็น film Geeks แล้วเขายังเป็นแฟนคอมิคอีกด้วย
“ผมอ่าน Marvel มาตั้งแต่ตอนเป็น Marvel Universe ยังไม่มี Cinematic สมัยที่ Jack Kirby, Stan Lee และ Roy Thomas ยังทำงานอยู่ …….”
หนัง MCU ที่ reference หนังของ Quentin ก็คือ
Captain America: The Winter Soldier ที่นำคำพูดของ Jules มือปืนที่พูดใน Pulp Fiction มาใส่บนหินประดับหลุมฝังศพของ Nick Fury. ทั้ง Jules และ Fury รับบทโดย Samuel L Jackson

ใน Captain Marvel เราก็ได้เห็น Talos หัวหน้า Skrull ออกยืนพิงเสาบ้านของ Monica Rambeau และดูด Milkshake เหมือนกับที่ Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) ทำในฉากตัดหู!! แก้วลายเดียวกันด้วย
ตอนนี้เราย้อนมาดูฝั่งที่ Quentin ใส่ref จาก Marvel comics บ้าง
ใน True Romance ที่ Quentin Tarantino เขียนบท และ Tony Scott กำกับ Quentin ก็ใส่ฉากที่พูดถึง Marvel comics ไว้เยอะ โดยเฉพาะการที่ให้ตัวเอก Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) ทำงานในร้านคอมิค
ฉากที่ Clarence พา Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) ไปที่ทำงานของเขา Clarence ได้พูดถึง Spider-man #1 และเปิดคอมิค Deathlok ให้เธอดู
ในฉากเดียวกันเขาเล่าเรื่องจากคอมิคของ Nick Fury ให้เธอฟัง
“Nick’s gotten a ring for his sweetheart and he wears it around
his neck on a chain.
Okay, later in the story he gets into a fight
with a Nazi bastard on a ship. He
knocks the guy overboard, but the
kraut grabs a hold of his chain and
the ring goes overboard too.
So,Nick dives into the ocean to get it. Isn’t that cool?”
จาก SGT. Fury and his Howling Commandos 18 เล่าเรื่อง Nick และแวนที่เขาจะนำไปมอบให้คู่หมั้น Pam แต่ในตอบจบเขาพบว่า pam ได้เสียชีวิตไปในการทิ้งระเบิดของพวกเยอรมัน
ในหนัง Reservoir Dogs ที่ Quentin กำกับก็เช่นกัน เขาได้ใส่ Reference ถึง Marvel Comics โดยเฉพาะ Fantastic Four ไว้
Mr Orange (Tim Roth) มีโปสเตอร์ของ Silver Surfer อยู่ในห้อง (ขอไม่เล่าอะไรมากเผื่อคนอยากไปดู เพราะเรื่องนี้ไม่ควรรู้อะไรก่อนดู)
ในอีกฉากหนึ่ง Mr Orange ก็คุยกับ Holdaway (Randy Brooks) และพูดถึง Joe Cabot (Lawrence Tierney) ผู้ว่าจ้างเขาทำการปล้นว่าเหมือน The Thing จาก Fantastic Four
“You remember
the Fantastic Four?
Yeah, with that invisible bitch…
and “Flame on”
and shit, right?
Thing. Motherfucker…Iooks just like the Thing. ”
ต่อมาใน Kill Bill เราได้เจอกับ Deadly Viper Assassination Squad ที่ตั้งชื่อตามสมาชิกทีมวายร้าย The Serpent Society

ใน The Inglorious Basterds หนึ่งในตัวร้ายใช้ชื่อ Dieter Hellstorm (August Diehl) ตาม Damon Hellstorm: Son of Satan
และในเรื่องล่าสุด Once Upon A Time in Hollywood ที่กำลังจะฉายในไทย เราจะได้เห็น Easter Egg ถึง Nick Fury
ในบทของ Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) ในหนังเรื่องนึง และในรถที่พักของเขาในเรื่องก็มีคอมิค Sgt Fury และของ Kid Colt
